Understanding Private Label Ebook Rights
If you have been around the Internet marketing scene for any length of time, you have probably heard of private label rights, master resell rights, and resell rights. It can all be quite confusing, and it is not unknown for some marketers to get into legal difficulties because they were not knowledgeable in this area.
Private resale rights are defined as any content, whether a document, graphic or ebook that you can modify, place yourself as author, and publish as you see fit. Depending on the license requirements of the content, you may, or may not, hold copyright to the content. Some authors will designate that you must modify the content by at least 30 percent if you wish to put your own name on the content as creator. Others will not request this in the license agreement.
It is, therefore, highly advisable to always read any licensing text that come with PLR content to be sure you are within your rights regarding use of the content. This author believes that if you obtain PLR content, and there is no licensing text provided, to either ask for a refund immediately, get confirmation from the creator as to your rights, or in the worst-case scenario not use it at all. Many PLR scams abound on the Internet at present, and you cannot be careful enough with work created by another.
You will also encounter master resale rights. Owning master resale rights means that you can modify the content as you wish, place your name on as author, and resell the content to other marketers. You can also redistribute rights to the content as you see fit. Again, be sure to read any licensing agreements.
Often, too, you will come across resale rights. Resale rights are simply the right to resell a product. You are not allowed to make any modifications to the content. The reason for this is quite simple. An author or developer that offers resell rights is giving you the opportunity to sell or give away his work as you see fit. In doing so, the clever author is assuring that his content, along with any affiliate links for product or services is distributed by others. All resale rights do is increase back end sales for the originator!
Private label rights content can be very lucrative for the savvy marketer if used correctly. It is always advisable to change the content by a minimum of 30 percent when using PLR. Doing so insures you are not being penalized for duplicate content. Remember, there are probably hundreds of marketers out there that have the same content as you. A very easy method of changing PLR content is to paste the text into MS Word, and then browse through the article. By using the synonyms feature in the right click menu, you can effectively change an article that will pass the duplicate content filters.
You have the PLR articles. You have modified them so that they will pass the duplicate content filters. So what do you do with this new content? One really good strategy is taking any of the articles that relate to a niche you are marketing to, and submit to one of the many article directories on the web today. Doing so will not only make you appear to be an authority on any given subject, but also will give you a one way backlink to your website if you properly use the author’s resource box to your best advantage.
Take advantage of PLR content today. Doing so will boost your efforts in Internet marketing, make you be seen as an authority in your niche, and will drive traffic to your websites.
